Brixton fundraiser for the Calais Refugee camps

MOUNTAIN OF LOVE was formed when Piers and Eddie, 2 out the 3 founder members of Alabama 3, writers of the Sopranos theme tune, Woke Up This Morning, left to do what they did best which was making serious groove based dance music.
Their sound is a heavy, dubbed up, joyous mix of psychedelic electronic funk, old school techno, and the blues with some swampy deep soul thrown into the mix.

SPACEHEADS are a duo of trumpet and drums, based in Manchester and London. They formed in the early 1990s and have released ten albums to date as well as toured extensively around Europe and the USA.
Andy Diagram plays trumpet through electronics mainly live loopers and harmonizers. Richard Harrison plays drums and percussion.

ONLY £5 minimum donation!

All proceeds to Refugee Friends and Family Support

Refugee Friends and Family Support are not an official organisation, they are a group of friends from the Goldborne Road area of West London, one of whom is one of my work colleagues under the Westway. Having seen the growth of the Jungle Camp on the news, and with Winter on the way, they decided it is time for direct action. They raised over a grand in donations, and took a van over to Calais loaded with tools and building materials, and stuff to donate including blankets, electric heaters and two diesel generators. They spent the weekend out there building shelters and whatever else was needed, working day and night. My friend came into work on Monday morning shattered but buzzing from his experience, and itching to go back, which they plan to do as soon as possible. So, I said I’d try to get them some money, and here we are with ‘Rumble For The Jungle’!

A massive thanks to everyone who has got involved with this event. Everyone I’ve asked has been only too willing to offer their help, and the small but growing queue of bands suggests that we may have to put on another event in the near future!

We’re all in this together.
